I have always been a hopeless romantic and a sap when it comes to stories of guys finding their soulmate and fighting for her until she realizes what has been in front of her the whole time.  It’s not so much the fight for true love that gets to me, but the overwhelming trust the guy has that this girl is the one true match.  Genuine trust is very hard to come by in this cynical world, but it always seems to be present when love is involved!

Mariel was telling me that JD first remembers meeting Paula at Camp Crucis when he was in eighth grade.  Now, back then, their age difference of five years was a hurdle, but JD knew Paula was something special.  Paula admits that she doesn’t even remember JD that first summer, but I bet he could spit out detail after detail about her.  I’m sure both of them would love to travel back to the moment the seed was planted in JD’s heart and watch it grow and spread to Paula—first as a solid friendship and then to a blossoming love!  Since we don’t have a time machine, we settled on driving out to Camp Crucis in Granbury for a sweet engagement session.  True, for this Dallas wedding photographer it was a bit of a drive, but the best locations are ones filled with meaning for the couple.

Once the sun started setting, we fought the frigid temperatures and it was well worth it!  This rustic setting was perfect for this Americana couple—boots, denim, and even some in JD’s  Navy uniform!  The energy between these two is definitely contagious and we can’t wait to document their love story this summer.  Trust me, it’s going to be good!
